Pajama Themed Birthday Party

My daughter turned 6 and she wanted a “Pajama Party” – without the sleepover part.  Guests came in PJs and we had a great time playing “Pass the Stuffed Animal”, “Pin The Pillow On The Sleeping Bag”, “Musical Pillows” and “Freeze Dance.”  We decorated pillow cases with fabric markers and after eating pizza and sundaes, we ended the night watching a movie while eating popcorn.

Summer Camps at Home

I love having my kids home in the summer.  No more running around to get out the door for school and activities.  Instead we get to indulge in lazy mornings in our pajamas and calmly move through the days.  Ah.. summertime.

That being said, if I let me kids do whatever they want all day in the summer, they will inevitably fight, bicker and get bored.  So how do I keep them entertained through the summer?  I have summer camp at home.  It’s more cost effective than sending them to camp, and we get to learn something new as a family.  Each week I pick a theme to learn about and we incorporate a field trip to tie it all together.  Keep in mind, we do have lots of relaxing down time – but it’s nice to have some things planned to keep them learning and engaged.  Click on the links to view my plan for each week.  Keep in mind, my kids are 6,5 and 3.  My plans are tailored to them, but could easily be modified for older kids.  Enjoy and please share your ideas and experiences!

Spaceship Project

Project day! Project Day! Project Day! I love Project day!  A chance to sink myself into something creative without feeling guilty about all the other chores I’m not getting done.  I know some of you hear the word “project” and begin to cringe at the thought of being creative.  I on the other hand go into dreamland at the thought of working on a project.  This past week I planned, prepared and created with my sons Tiger Scout Den.  Each scout needed to make a space themed centrepiece to use at the upcoming banquet.  I was thrilled to help out with such a project.  They turned out pretty good if I do say so myself!
